Assassin’s Creed movie lead Michael Fassbender (Shame, Inglourious Basterds) hasn’t ever played the sport, he told The Daily Beast (via IGN) in a brand new interview about his next film 12 Years a Slave.
Despite never having played an Assassin’s Creed game, Fassbender said he knew of the series and was energized by the idea of the franchise.
“That’s definitely happening. We’re just developing the script in the mean time. I’d heard of it but had never played the sport,” Fassbender said. “i haven’t got a online game player … that is not what they’re called [Laughs]. I met up with the blokes from Ubisoft and so they told me the tale behind it, and that i thought it was very interesting–the premise of reliving memories.”
Fassbender was Ubisoft’s first choice for the lead role within the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie. It remains unclear which character from the Assassin’s Creed universe Fassbender will portray.
The Asssassin’s Creed movie is predicted in theaters in May 2015.
Ubisoft has a complete of six movies within the pipeline. Besides Assassin’s Creed, the French publisher is making movies according to its Far Cry, Rabbids, Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon franchises. In all instances, Ubisoft will retain creative control.
