A man was shot dead Sunday in San Francisco after an try to sell his PlayStation 4 within the city’s Bayview District, police have said. The San Jose Mercury News reports that the 22-year-old man was shot multiple times yesterday afternoon before being taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he later died.
Law enforcement officials said the victim met the suspect, described as an adult male, online after posting an advertisement for the PS4 on Instagram. Once they met as much as complete the sale, the suspect shot the victim while he was still in his car together with his girlfriend despite giving up the console willingly, in step with local news outlet KTVU.
“i do not know that it’s unique to PlayStation or anything,” Lt. Tim Plyer said. “People do robberies, and that i have no idea why this one transpired, but we’ll do all that we will to research it.”
As of last night, police continued to talk with witnesses and follow leads as they sought the killer. Anyone with details about the case is asked to name the police department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip via text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” within the message.
The PS4 have been a hot item at retail thus far, selling out at numerous retailers, and fetching a hefty markup on auction site eBay.
