Watchmen scribe Alex Tse will write Gran Turismo film adaptation

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alex Tse was tapped to write down the feature film adaptation of Sony’s Gran Turismo racing franchise.

Columbia Pictures, that’s producing the movie, has yet to expose any information about its plot or when this will hit theaters.

Tse have been and is currently involved with a lot of geeky screenplays that overlap with lots of gamers’ interests. In 2009 he and David Hayter (who was, coincidentally, the voice actor for Solid Snake) co-wrote the screenplay for Zach Snyder’s adaptation of Alan Moore’s Watchmen. This year, he wrote the script for Battling Boy, an adaptation of a graphic novel by Paul Pope. He’s also writing the remake of the sci-fi cult classic, Highlander, and a live-action adaptation of the Ninja Scroll anime.

Hollywood was scrambling for brand names they could develop into racing movie franchises ever because the success of Fast Five, which grossed $626,137,675 worldwide and Fast & Furious 6, which grossed $788,679,850.

Touchstone pictures is about to release an adaptation of Electronic Arts’ Need for Speed (staring Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul) in March 2014, while Legendary Pictures is developing a film in response to the new Wheels toy cars.
